I am new to your community and to on line journal. I just moved to the Atlanta area with my young daughter and am trying to connect with some people here. I have been involved in the Pagan religion for a few years now, and want to bring my daughter up around good hearted people.

Tree move (x-posted) [01 Nov 2003|07:34pm]

Just a follow-up to the post I made here recently in regards to tree moving:
The tree was moved into my yard last night. It seems to be doing well so far. For anyone who is interested, I posted some pictures here, and here are some of the details of the move. And thank you again to anyone who offered help or advice or well-wishes.

Hi. I am planning to move a tree today into my yard, and the tree might not end up making it. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or tips on how to help the tree through this move. I know basically how to help the tree through the move physically, and I am looking specifically for suggestions of a more spiritual nature. If anyone has any it would be greatly appreciated.

Since this is the time of year when the veil between the worlds is opening up, how many of you incorporate an altar to the ancestors as part of your seasonal practices? If you do, tell us more about how/why.

I need to find a background image for my journal. I really want something that looks Halloweenish. I have visited several websites for free halloween graphics and I have still not been able to find what I'm looking for. If anyone has any suggestions as to where I might find a cool background image, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You <3 Jen

magickal names [15 Sep 2003|04:17pm]
seshen
If you have a magickal/Craft name, how did you come by it? What was your reason for taking one? Is it public or private, and why? What significance does it have to you, personally and in your practices and/or path? Have you had more than one name; if so, why a change?

I haven't been able to post much in this community recently, and I just wanted to let everyone know that I haven't deserted you! :D I've been very busy recently, and I just got a new job as well. I am now working at a Casino during 3rd shift, so my body is adjusting to this new schedule. I will start posting alot more though, I promise. I would actually like to talk about interests/hobbies as a topic. I have many interests, but my favorite things to do as far as hobbies go are: reading, studying astrology, studying herbs, making mixtures and powders for spellwork, driving in the country, and resting in bed with a cup of cappucino. :D So, I would like to know from other people in this community,"What makes you happy?" or "What are your simple pleasures?." I'm not sure how many of you have heard of the author Sark, but I love her books. One of my favorites is called, 'Change your life without getting out of bed.' It's one of those books that makes you feel all cozy inside. I like books like that. :D <3 -Jen

So much for that. [11 Sep 2003|12:01pm]

I've left pagan. Too much elitism, too many "purists" -- too much arguing. But this place seems quiet and friendly, like a magical forest glade.

So...I am gearing up for the Wishing Moon in October. I've found several different articles on Wishing Moon rituals, but I was wondering if anyone here has one to share?

brief intro...cross-posted [05 Sep 2003|06:03pm]

ex_nyxluna594
I am Nyx, a thirty-nine year old woman residing in Manitoba, Canada. I am studying different traditions and aspects of paganism and Wicca. I like to read from a variety of sources and while I may not post much, I do enjoy reading and learning.
I appreciate the diversity of input.
I am engaged and live with a wonderful man, and we have a pug dog and run a small rattery for pet rats.
I like to sew, read, and do crafty-type things. I enjoy browsing used book stores and thrift shops.
I have spent most of my life as a practicing Christian of various denomination, but since 1999 do not identify soley with anyone faith tradition.
Right now I do some ritual and magick on my own, and according to what I think is right for myself. I belong to a few mailing lists which helps give me input/feedback when I desire that.
I look forward to learning from and with you.

new member intro [05 Sep 2003|11:21am]
seshen
Saw this community advertised on kaosflower and thought I'd give it a looksie. ("Looksie." Is that a word? It is now.)

My public Craft name is Seshen. I'm a 39-yr-old married mom w/2 daughters. Pagan/witch since early '80s, Wiccan since '88, initiated into Lycian Wicca '93. A little about me:

Spiritual: My path is Lycian Wicca, a shamanic witchcraft Tradition. I follow our expanded version of the Rede: "An it harm none, do as you will. And it cause harm, do as you must." Daily meditation to Kuan Yin for personal inspiration. I consider myself a pantheist.

Here's my LJ bio with a summary of my spiritual journey and some personal info (easier than retyping everything)

Points of interest: I live in a haunted house; 2 resident spirits and the occasional strays. Future empty-nest plans are to become a ghosthunter.

Some personal beliefs from my web site

LJ Community host of dark_witchcraft, goddess_wisdom, wiccanwitches and lycian_wicca

Looking forward to new insights and discussion!
